Building Secondary Educator Leadership (B-SEAL) for Multilingual Learners

B-SEAL for Multilingual Learners prepares teams of secondary teachers and leaders to serve the academic and socioemotional needs of Multilingual Learners. Funded by the US Department of Education, building on the work of the Multilingual Learner Project (MLP), The program supports the literacy development and academic achievement of Multilingual Learners across content areas by providing coursework and intensive coaching. Participating teachers earn New York State certification in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or a Bilingual Extension. The program also includes school leaders through a Professional Learning Community (PLC), to understand the strengths and needs of MLs and to support school-wide change. B-SEAL is designed and implemented through a collaboration betweenThe City College of New York (CCNY) and New Visions for Public Schools, with Moira Wilkinson as Curriculum Development and Professional Learning Manager, and Andrea Velikov as Program Manager.
